Abstract
Pulmonary interstitial emphysema is an effusion of intrapulmonary gases which develops outside of the normal air passages, and inside the connective tissue of the peribronehovascular sheaths, interlobular septa, as well as the visceral pleura. Pathophysiology, roentgen findings, and clinical aspects are presented, and therapeutic precautions that have led to decreased mortality are described.
