Abstract
This is the citation context dataset generated from a snapshot of PubMed Central Open Access Subset. The dataset has about 97.5 million citing-cited pairs, 34.7 million texts of citation context based on 2,658,541 PubMed Central papers. \n\nThe original PMC papers were downloaded in late December of 2019 using the official FTP service. Then, we processed each of the PMC files to (1) extract the PMC paper's information, (2) extract the citation relationship, (3) extract the citation contexts.\n\nThe dataset overall is comparatively clean, because the PMC papers are already processed and available in the XML format, and the position of the citation anchor in the citation context is also provided, helping users for further data analysis and data mining based on the dataset.\n\nA future published paper's information may be added for providing more detailed information about this dataset.
