Abstract

Nowadays, the discourse of democracy issues addressing mass media as fourth pillar of democracy after legislative, executive and judicative power. However, in some cases, legislative, executive, judicative power and mainstream mass media couldn’t facilitate the process of democracy in community level. Instead of that, community communication media appears as deliberative democracy manifesto. Citizen journalism became a kind of news reporting method. Radio, newsletter, local television, and website as community media products are selected as examples deliberative democracy manifesto. The problem I addressed in this essay was defined that kind of community media haven’t able to give solution for ideal democracy yet, but some of them show a good output for facilitating community interest. The result was shown that participatory democracy in the context of community media needs requisites. The community should be educated and should also has high understanding of differences
