Abstract

The Research presented here describes evolving mass media and the emergence of civil society in Croatia at the end of the 20th Century. This case study centers on the development of Hrvatski Radio (Croatia's public-service radio system), and relevant Croat law. Research questions focus on the historical, polital, and legal issues that have shaped Croat radio in the past decade, and the transition of Croatia's public-service broadcasting from an authoritarian to a benevolent system.
