Abstract

This study examines the extent to which public-private partnership enhances the effective delivery of public service in Nigeria. To achieve this objective, research questions were raised, hypotheses were formulated and while relevant literature were reviewed. The population for the study consists of permanent secretaries, directors of finance, chairmen of boards and chief accountants of some ministries and extra-ministerial departments in Delta State. The major instrument used in collecting the needed data from the study was the questionnaire. The data were analysed using simple percentages while the stated hypotheses were statistically tested with Chi-square (X2) test. Our findings revealed that PPP significantly enhances the efficient delivery of public services in Nigeria but its implementation is hindered by several factors. It was therefore recommended that to ensure PPP achieves its desired objective, the problems hindering its implementation should be brought under control.
