Abstract
Ray Lowry argues that public health has lost its way, while acknowledging that it's a good time to join the specialty.1 It is an exciting time to become a public health specialist, but I challenge his assertion that public health is in crisis. On the contrary, the specialty offers major opportunities to influence the health of the public in a positive way. Public health works across three domains: health protection, service improvement, and health improvement.
