Abstract

Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India is committed to achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC) for its entire 1.4 billion population living in our 6.6 lakh plus villages and nearly 3000 towns/ cities. Delivery of UHC is predominantly dependent upon our primary health care system of which human resources for health (HRH) forms a crucial component. The HRH responsible for delivering primary health care comprises of a team of about 40 individuals consisting of two Health Assistants, ten to twelve Multipurpose Health Workers (Female and Male) and about thirty ASHA Volunteers besides one or two Medical Officer/s.Â
