Abstract

The objective of this work is to examine the impact of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) distribution on water transport in the diffusion media of polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFCs). The structure of a commercial gas diffusion layer (GDL) sample was captured previously using X-ray computed tomography. In this study, several PTFE distribution cases are generated on the internal surface of the measured GDL structure. The full/pore morphology model is applied to capture the impact of the PTFE distributions on water transport in the GDL.
