Abstract

A NiCoCrAlYTa coating possessing homogenous microstructure was fabricated by high velocity oxygen fuel (HVOF) technique, in which some of the coating samples were electroplated with a thin layer of Pt. After vacuum annealing, thermal cycling tests of the NiCoCrAlYTa coatings with and without Pt modification were carried out at 1050 °C till 1000 cycles. The results revealed that Pt modification has assisted to improve the stability of the coating and to develop a highly purified alumina scale, where lower oxidation rate and residual stress were achieved in the Pt-modified NiCoCrAlYTa coating.
