Abstract

Although psychoanalysis was introduced in Norway at the beginning of this century, it is only during the last two-three decades that the psychodynamic frame of reference has dominated the psychiatric residency training. The present specialty training demands two years of psychotherapy supervision given by approved teachers. To become an approved supervisor one has to take advanced training in dynamic psychotherapy or psychoanalysis. A special course on the «pedagogical aspects of supervision» is also offered. Once a year we arrange a post-graduate conference for the approved supervisors. It takes place at Utstein Kloster by Stavanger, a former cloister built on the ruins of one of the farms of the vikingerkings. Alberta B.
