Abstract
The current status of several areas of interest in psychosomatic medicine, including specificity theory, life changes, and peptic ulcers, is reviewed, and their relevance to the practice of psychosomatic medicine discussed. The importance of neuro-psychopharmacological research to psychosomatic medicine is stressed, and a perspective is given on the usefulness of drugs in conjunction with intensive psychotherapy.
