Abstract

This paper is based on ongoing research being undertaken as part of a PhD research project exploring the experience of known egg donation in the UK (i.e. where eggs are donated by a woman known to the recipient either as a friend or family member). Previously known egg donation has been relatively neglected by social science researchers in the UK. The aim of this paper is to explore how the experience of known egg donation is understood by counsellors involved in providing psychosocial support for those embarking on the treatment, as either a recipient or a donor, or their partners.
