Abstract

s / Can J Diabetes 39 (2015) S19eS20 S20 EWL. Univariate factors associated with weight loss were T2DM, treatment for dyslipidemia, pre-operative BMI (p<0.05). Multivariate modeling controlling for age and sex, indicated the only predictor of successful weight loss at 1 year was pre-operative BMI (p1⁄40.012). Lower BMI at time of surgery was significantly correlated with achievement of 50% EWL 1 year post-surgery Conclusion: A lower BMI at surgery was significantly associated with achieving 50% EWL at 1 year. It is difficult to determine which patients will achieve successful weight loss. Identification of other factors that may predict successful weight loss is necessary to develop interventions targeting specific patient needs.
