Abstract

We assessed the significance of psychophysiological markers for accelerated aging of the function of attention through comparative analysis of two occupational groups in order to find out how the relevant working process affects mental work capacity. We identified peculiarities of the systemic structure of functions determining mental work capacity that depend on the age and length of occupational employment in truck drivers. It was shown that impairment of mnemonic functions in truck drivers occurs 10–15 years earlier than in the control group. Psychophysiological indicators reflecting the functioning of attention decreased not only with aging but also with longer occupational employment. Our results show that it is necessary to conduct further studies of psychophysiological markers for age-related impairment of mental work capacity with respect to job category in order to attain professional longevity.
