Abstract

Although significant numbers of children with learning or behavioral disorders may be receiving psychopharmacologic medications, special education personnel may not always be familiar with either specific therapeutic effects or side effects of such drugs. The following is a brief introduction to specific classroom issues involved in the four major classes of psychotropic medication, along with certain recent methodological concerns in both research and classroom intervention in this area.
