Abstract
Theoretical framework. Burnout is a syndrome that increasingly affects the mental health and job performance of workers, so it is necessary to have validated tools for an objective evaluation. Although this is necessary, in Colombia the psychometric properties of the SBI have not yet been evaluated, so the evaluation of the validity and reliability of this questionnaire is pertinent. Method. It is an instrumental study, carried out with a sample made up of 294 Colombian health professionals, who followed the ethical considerations in force for this research; An exploratory factor analysis and a Structural Equations Model (SEM) were available to identify the distribution of the items and the validity of the instruments, as well as an internal consistency to determine reliability. Results. The reagents shown an extracting greater than .30, so they are kept for analysis; Both, the exploratory analysis and the SEM show that the items contribute to each factor in a value greater than .40, preserving the original structure of the questionnaire, and the internal consistency identified was higher than .70 for each factor obtained. Discussion. The factorial analysis, the internal consistency, and the SEM analysis demonstrate that the instrument has adequate psychometric properties of validity and reliability, which makes it relevant to measure burnout in the described context. Limitations and new approach insights in the area are discussed.
