Abstract
• The 10-item Center for Epidemiologic Studies Depression scale (CES-D-10) is a widely used self-report tool for assessing depressive symptomology but factor structures remain largely inconsistent. • Confirmatory factor analysis showed that CES-D-10 consists of one-factor without the ‘hopeful’ item in Aotearoa New Zealand children. • CES-D-10 is an adequate, reliable tool to screen for depressive symptoms in children.
