Abstract

This study of serial use by academic psychologists incorporates both an analysis of psychologists' use of serials and a comparison of a list of specific journal titles read by psychologists at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (UIUIC) to published national rankins of psychology journals. Findings related to serial use behavior are compared to a similar study of UIUC social science faculty conducted approximately a decade earlier. The study confirms the need for both qualitative and quantitative data for the evaluation of serial titles in psychology, and the value of local data in collection development decisions related to serials.
