As a currently emerging technology and an emerging intelligent mode of transport, autonomous vehicles (AVs) with lots of potential advantages need attention in terms of acceptability of their users. This research incorporates three psychological factors of perceived trust, perceived value, and perceived enjoyment into the technology acceptance model, and explores the influence of these factors on the potential use intention of AVs users. In this study, the questionnaire data from 232 participants were analysed, and the structural equation model test study model was adopted, and nine hypotheses proposed in this study were verified. The results show that perceived enjoyment, perceived trust, perceived usefulness, and attitude have a direct positive impact on users' usage intentions. Perceived value, perceived usefulness, and perceived ease of use have a direct positive impact on user attitudes. In addition, perceived ease of use has also been shown to directly affect perceived usefulness. This study constructs and demonstrates a model of autonomous vehicle acceptance. This model can be used for user acceptance research of unmanned vehicles. The research expands the theory of technology acceptance model and its applicable fields, and enriches the theory of user research on unmanned vehicles. This study provides predictors of AVs acceptance for AVs designers, automakers, automotive policy makers, and related practitioners. Help them make actionable autonomous vehicle-related decisions to promote high-acceptance autonomous vehicle design and user intent for autonomous vehicles.

E-health system characteristics, medical performance and healthcare quality at UNRWA-Palestine health centers
  • May 22, 2020
  • Journal of Enterprise Information Management
  • Khalid Abed Dahleez + 2 more

PurposeThis study aims to investigate how e-health system characteristics (information quality, system quality, perceived ease of use, perceived usefulness) contribute to the enhancement of medical staff performance, patient care, and doctor–patient relationships at UNRWA-Gaza healthcare centers. It aims at testing an integrative single model comprising Technology Acceptance Model (TAM), D&M model and e-health system utilization.Design/methodology/approachThis study followed the quantitative methodology and the deductive research approach. Data were collected from 241 medical staff who use the system employed in 19 different healthcare centers across the Gaza Strip. Partial least square/structural equation modeling technique was used to analyze the collected data and to test study hypotheses.FindingsStudy concluded that information quality of the adopted Health Information System (HIS) has both direct and indirect positive impact on staff performance, only direct positive impact on patient care and only positive indirect impact on doctor–patient relationship. System quality, on the other hand, was found to have negative direct impact and positive indirect impact on staff performance and has both direct and indirect positive impact on both doctor-patient relationship and patient care.Research limitations/implicationsNoteworthy that HIS has availability, speed and error detection and error prevention issues. It is recommended that these shortfalls be addressed together with improving user perception towards ease of use and usefulness of the system.Practical implicationsManagement should also work to raise confidence in its medical staff to improve the effect of HIS on medical performance and patient care. It is also recommended that UNRWA should implement crowed management techniques such as queuing systems and on-phone booking to minimize patient waiting time.Originality/valueThe importance of the study stems from its context being conducted in a developing region (Gaza Strip-Palestine) which has a fragile economic, political and social environment with many other complexities. It is also conducted at United Nations Relief and Work Agency (UNRWA) healthcare centers, which provide medical services to Palestinian refugees. In addition, this study is among the few studies that address the impact of individual e-health success factors on both doctor-patient relationship and patient care constructs. Most previous studies concentrated on the impact of health system adoption as a whole on these two subject variables and one can hardly ever stop at studies that address effect of individual success factors on them. It also integrated both D&M system success model and TAM model with some additional amendments creating and tested a new model.

  • Mohammed Abdullatif Almulla

Higher education authorities have supplied information and communication technologies (ICTs) to guarantee that students use ICT to improve their learning and research outputs. ICT, on the other hand, has been proven to be underused, particularly by students. Therefore, we aimed to develop a new model to measure students’ active learning and actual use of ICT in higher education. To investigate this issue, the technology acceptance model and constructivism learning theory were verified and applied to evaluate university students’ use of ICT for active learning purposes. The participants in the study were 317 postgraduate and undergraduate students from four faculties at King Faisal University who consented to take part. The research data were analyzed using structural equation modeling (AMOS-SEM). Three specific components were used: the technology adoption model, constructivism learning, and active learning using ICT. The findings revealed that: (a) using ICTs for students’ interactivity, engagement, expected effort, subjective norm, and perceived ease of use has a direct positive impact on perceived enjoyment and usefulness; (b) perceived enjoyment and usefulness has a direct positive impact on active learning, attitude toward use, and behavioral intention to use ICTs; (c) active learning has a direct positive impact on attitude toward use, behavioral intention to use ICTs; and (d) active learning has a direct positive impact on attitude. Moreover, the results showed the mediator factors’ values positively “R square,” active learning (0.529), attitude toward use (0.572), behavioral intention to use (0.583), and actual ICT use (0.512) in higher education. Therefore, the results of the hypotheses developed a validated instrument to measure students’ active learning and actual use of ICTs in higher education in Saudi Arabia.

  • Ahmad M A Zamil + 3 more

During the COVID-19 epidemic, personal safety has received increasing attention, leading to behavioral changes. Mobile-wallet (m-wallet) makes it easier for people to keep social distance, which helps stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Evolving Internet technology has brought about changes in consumer lifestyle. The current situation of COVID-19 has created a business environment to shift from traditional ways and adopt e-commerce solutions worldwide. Grounded in technology acceptance model (TAM) theory, this study’s objective is two-fold: First, this study intends to examine perceived susceptibility to COVID-19, perceived severity of COVID-19, insecurity and discomfort as the predictors of perceived usefulness (PU) and perceived ease of use (PEOU). Second, the current research intends to test the moderating effect of electronic words-of-mouth (eWOM) on the relationship between attitude and usage intention. Using survey methods, 226 usable responses were collected through a mall intercept survey in Pakistan. Data were analyzed using partial least square (PLS). The results revealed that PEOU and PU positively influence attitude toward M-wallet. This study has found that attitude positively influences the usage intention in adopting M-wallet. The results also support the moderating role of eWOM. These findings contribute to the marketing literature in several ways, particularly in Pakistan. This is the first study to use eWOM as a moderating variable in the TAM theory. In addition, this study adds to the current body of knowledge by considering eWOM as a multi-dimensional construct novel in m-wallet literature.

Using the technology acceptance model to evaluate user attitude and intention of use for online games
  • Aug 1, 2012
  • Total Quality Management & Business Excellence
  • Dauw-Song Zhu + 2 more

Most domestic online games are foreign games authorised for distribution in Taiwan. Thus, domestic distributors do not have the right to change the design of games. All that they can do is provide sufficient support and improve service quality, system quality (SQ), and information content to online game players. Many empirical studies have pointed to the technology acceptance model (TAM) to explain whether users accept a new information technology. Therefore, this study adopted TAM to investigate external factors that affect gamer acceptance of online games and used SQ, information quality, and service-provider characteristics (SPCs) as external variables. In the aspect of perceptions, SQ was found to have positive effects on perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness. SPCs had positive effects on perceived usefulness and perceived trust. The research finding in the relationship between user perception and attitude and intention was consistent with the TAM suggestion; i.e. perceived ease of use had positive effects on perceived usefulness and user attitude, and perceived usefulness had positive effect on user attitude. Finally, user perceived trust and attitude positively correlated with user intention of use.

Social Media Technologies Used for Education: An Empirical Study on TAM Model During the COVID-19 Pandemic
  • Apr 28, 2022
  • Frontiers in Education
  • Omar A Alismaiel + 2 more

The study’s major goal was to figure out what factors impact university students’ behavior and intentions to use social media to boost their academic performance during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Given the context-dependent nature of online learning, the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) was adopted and supplemented with components largely relevant to harnessing social media for collaborative learning and engagement. Collaborative learning, student participation, and a social media mindset are just a few of the new features. The enlarged model was validated using empirical data from an online survey questionnaire filled by a sample of 409 Saudi Arabia higher education students, which assesses students’ social media usage intentions and academic performance during the COVID-19 Pandemic. AMOS-SEM was used to analyze the model’s various assumptions (Analysis of Moment Structures- Structural Equation Modeling). The findings revealed that: (1) utilizing social media for collaborative learning and student engagement has a direct positive impact on perceived usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment; (2) perceived usefulness, ease of use, and enjoyment has a direct positive impact on attitude to use social media; and (3) the link between TAM characteristics “usefulness, ease of use, and pleasure” and behavior intention to use social media is mediated by attitude to use social media. (4) Students’ attitudes and behavior intentions on social media have a direct positive influence on their academic performance during the COVID-19 Pandemic. Academics, higher education institutions, and educational technology application providers will benefit greatly from the conclusions of this study, both theoretically and practically.

High Versus Low Consumer Attitude and Intention Towards Adoption of Mobile Banking in India: An Empirical Study
  • Nov 5, 2017
  • Vision: The Journal of Business Perspective
  • Deepak Chawla + 1 more

Although factors influencing adoption of technology-enabled banking has been studied by many researchers, the construct perceived usefulness had been analysed as a single construct. Moreover, the measurement of perceived usefulness by researchers does not discuss sub-dimensions or sub-factors, which could contribute to perceived usefulness associated with a particular technological innovation. This article empirically examines the influence of various factors on user attitude and intention towards adopting mobile banking. Based on focus-group discussion and personal interview with bankers, technology acceptance model (TAM) and studies on technology adoption, we propose a mobile banking adoption model in Indian context. We also examine the impact of demographics on user attitude and intention. Exploratory factor analysis (EFA) on a sample of 367 respondents resulted in seven factors which were found to be reliable. Confirmatory factor analysis demonstrated significant convergent and discriminant validity. Logistic regression equation was used to estimate the degree of correct prediction of user attitude and intention towards mobile banking adoption. Perceived trust, perceived ease of use (PEOU), perceived lifestyle compatibility, perceived efficiency and perceived convenience significantly impacted user attitude. However, user attitude was not found to differ significantly between demographic variables. Similarly, perceived trust, PEOU, perceived lifestyle compatibility and perceived efficiency were found to positively and significantly affect user intention. User intention was found to significantly vary across demographic groups based on gender and household income.

  • Muhammad Devian Ramadhan + 2 more

Legal Analytics is a new application that was released on January 27, 2022, so this application can be said to be only a little over a year old. This app focuses on the process of drafting laws and regulations digitally. This research aims to measuring user interest in the Legal Analytics application to facilitate users in carrying out their daily work and implementing the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) theory so that the Legal Analytics application can be accepted by users. The method used in this study is the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) by explaining factors such as Perceived Usefulness, Attitude Toward Use, Actual System Usage, Behavioral Intention of Use and Perceived Ease of Use that influence the acceptance of the Legal Analytics application with the SmartPLS application to process test result. The results obtained from this study are Fornell Larcker which is valid, but there are two aspects of the HTMT that are invalid because they are above 0.9, namely Perceived Ease of Use on Attitude Toward Use which is worth 0.920 and Perceived Ease of Use on Behavioral Intention of Use which has a value of 0.915, so improvements are needed in the application. Another result is the R Square value which indicates that the majority of respondents have a positive attitude towards using the Legal Analytics application and have a high intention to use it, so it can be concluded that the results of this study indicate that the majority of users accept the Legal Analytics application and have a high interest in using the Legal application. Analytics in facilitating his daily work. The result of the implementation of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) method in the Legal Analytics application is an improvement in several views of the application that has been recommended, namely improving the appearance of the Document Recap and Document Setting & Drafting menus.

WAREHOUSE RECEIPT SYSTEM USING TECHNOLOGY ACCEPTANCE MODEL (TAM) FOR AGRICULTURAL ISLAMIC FINANCING
  • Sep 27, 2024
  • Journal of Law and Sustainable Development
  • Riris Aishah Prasetyowati + 2 more

Objectives: This paper offers an analysis of Islamic banks that are expected to be able to fully contribute to the availability of agricultural sector financing with ease of requirements and guarantees for farmers who need additional working capital for their farming businesses through user-friendly applications. Islamic banks also need other supporting institutions, such as guarantee institutions that are authorized to issue collateral in the form of Warehouse Receipts (WRS), start-up companies for marketing agricultural products, internet technology for information on the feasibility of farmers' businesses, and others. Theoretical Framework: TAM adopts a causal chain of beliefs, attitudes, intentions, and behaviours as proposed by social psychologists named (Fisbein and Ajzeem,1975). Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) is a trade and financial instrument that allows commodities stored in a warehouse to obtain financing from financial institutions without requiring other collateral. Method: The TAM method is used to measure farmers' perceptions of the usefulness and ease of use of Internet-based WRS guarantee for agricultural financing with a sample of 193 respondents consisting of farmers and Islamic bank employees in the financing section. Financing/Banking Institutions and Warehouse Managers are no longer unfamiliar with the term Warehouse Receipt. This document of proof of ownership of goods is issued by the Warehouse Manager who is tasked with managing goods that are used as collateral for the granting of credit/financing by financial institutions to the owner of the goods. Results and Discussion: The results of the analysis show that the direct effect of perceived usefulness has a significantly greater correction with behavior of use, and ease of use on usage attitude has a positive relationship, strong and significant, as well as behavioural intentions of use and actual system usage. But the indirect effect of usefulness and ease of use on behavioural intention of use is positive, weak and insignificant. The direct effect of ease of use on the actual system usage has a positive, strong and significant. The indirect effect of usefulness and ease of use on the actual system usage through usage attitudes is positive, strong and significant, but through behavioural intentions of use, the effect is positive, weak and insignificant. Research Implications: It means that farmers have expectations in this Internet-based WRS guarantee for agricultural Islamic financing product. However, Islamic banks indicate an uncertain perception. Originality/Value: This paper is one of the studies that still rarely discuss agricultural financing in Islamic banking using warehouse receipts as collateral. This analysis is an initial study of farmers' perceptions of Islamic bank agricultural financing with this warehouse receipt guarantee. The conclusions and implications discussed in this paper exceed the expectations and desires of farmers, as well as financing products in Islamic banks.

Influence of Psychological and Socioeconomic Factors on Purchase Likelihood for Autonomous Vehicles: A Hybrid Choice Modeling Approach
  • Oct 30, 2023
  • Sustainability
  • Yunyi Liang + 3 more

This study looks into how psychological and socioeconomic factors interact to affect people’s propensity to purchase autonomous vehicles (AVs). Inspired by the Technology Acceptance Model, six psychological variables—social influence, convenience, perceived utility, perceived ease of use, perceived risk, and usage attitude—are proposed. Twenty-two measurement variables are introduced because it is difficult to measure these latent factors directly. To understand the link between the latent variables and calculate their factor scores, a structural equation model is created. The latent variables, along with observable socioeconomic attributes, are included as explanatory variables in a mixed logit model to estimate the purchase likelihood for AVs on different levels. A stated preference survey is conducted for data collection. We obtained 302 effective samples. The experiment results demonstrate that perceived usefulness has the most significant positive impact on purchase likelihood, followed by social influence and perceived ease of use. However, perceived risk has a significant negative impact on the purchase likelihood. Individuals with less driving experience and those without a motor vehicle driving license are more inclined to adopt autonomous vehicles. Additionally, there is a substantial correlation between the frequency of car use and the propensity to support the deployment of autonomous vehicles.

The purpose of the study is to integrate technology acceptance model (TAM) and social cognitive theory (SCT) to explore the usage intention model of telehealth systems. A survey of valid 480 users of telehealth was conducted to validate the proposed model. The findings show that computer anxiety has negatively significant effects on computer self-efficacy. Computer self-efficacy has positively significant effects on perceived ease of use. Both computer self-efficacy and perceived ease of use have jointly significant effects on perceived usefulness. In addition, both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness have positively significant effects on usage intention. This study also confirms that both perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness are important mediators between computer self-efficacy and usage intention. According to the statistical results, the proposed model fits very well for the samples. The integrative viewpoint of this research can provide telehealth designers and managers of the hospital with the implication that hospitals should promote both technological aspect (perceived ease of use and perceived usefulness), and psychosocial aspect (self- efficacy and computer anxiety) simultaneously to increase rural residents’ intention of using telehealth.   Key words: Technology acceptance model, social cognitive theory, telehealth system.
