Abstract

Objective To understand the psychological experiences of patients in pregnancy with systemic lupus erythematosus, in order to provide references for effective nursing interventions in clinical practice. Methods The study investigated and semi-structured interviewed 12 patients in pregnancy with systemic lupus erythematosus using purposive sampling. Results Three main aspects were concluded after sorting out, analyzing and refining the interview data: (i) child was regarded as a continuation of life; (ii) pregnancy was a mixed story with happiness and anxiety; (iii) more convenient professional support and family support were expected. Conclusions Negative attitudes and inappropriate responses are existed among patients in pregnancy with systemic lupus erythematosus. Thus, medical staffs should provide psychological and information supports timely and ensure the standardization of the treatment, to guarantee the safety of both mother and child.
