Abstract

More and more scholars have paid attention to the psychological and psychiatric impacts of hair loss.Hair is a major component of an individual's appearance and provides useful social signals about identity and status.It has been reported that patients with hair loss present with such mental problems as anxiety and depression,which in turn lead to social adjustment disorders mediated by the cognitive-behavioral framework.In addition,the preexisting personality is demonstrated to determine the susceptibility of patients to mental problems.Psychological condition also affects the treatment outcome of hair loss.Therefore,dermatologists need to offer additional treatment for associated psychological disorders in the management of hair loss.
