Abstract
The article clarifies the essence of the "development of key competences of adults" concept (the process of quantitative and qualitative changes in the abilities of subjects to solve a class of tasks as products of purposeful learning and assimilation of progressive experience, self-development of individuals, their personal maturity). The operationalization of this definition has gave the possibility to the author to highlight in its composition the following simpler concepts such as self-development, subjectivity, readiness for activity, personality abilities, and experience. It is proved that the development process in adulthood is directly related to professional activity and depends on the experience of work and increase of knowledge, skills and abilities necessary for the solution of professional tasks. The development of key competencies involves professional training of organizations` and enterprises` personnel based on a certain strategy.
