Abstract

At the end of this chapter you should: 1. Be able to critically evaluate Freud’s psychoanalytic theory of personality; 2. Have an appreciation of the theories of post-Freudians, Jung and Erikson, and some ways in which they differ from classical psychoanalysis; 3. Have considered the nature of projective tests and the case for and against their use in assessing personality.
