Abstract

ventional histology, a graphic visualization is obtained that cannot be seen on radiographs. Indeed, root surface resorption of the magnitude found on rapid palatal expansion anchor premolar teeth may be just as damaging as obvious apical root resorption. This clinical procedure may cause resorption on as much as 45 percent of the buccal surface of premolar roots. Periodontal attachment is still maintained in areas of continuing resorption and repair, however. Molar teeth are seldom considered, yet they can show significant resorption with distalization by headgear.
