Abstract

During my holiday in the Cayman Islands in autumn 2003 I visited the local mental health unit in Grand Cayman, the largest of the three Cayman Islands, which are located in the western Caribbean. Having done most of my training in inner London, I was curious to find out more about psychiatric practice in the Caribbean. This seemed the perfect opportunity, and I was not disappointed. Grand Cayman has two hospitals, each with one resident psychiatrist. I visited the main Cayman Islands' health services complex.
