Abstract
The UK Biobank (UKB) is a unique resource for psychiatric genetics. This is a unique resource with very broad phenotyping across physical traits that is being expanded to include psychiatry (on >250K) with CIDI based mental health questionnaire and neuroimaging (on 100K). These are further complemented by ongoing medical record linkage. The research in my group in UKB is focused on psychiatric disorders alone (specifically the internalising disorders: depression, anxiety including OCD, anorexia and related disorders), and for these disorders in the presence of co-morbid physical disorders (autoimmune disorders, type 2 diabetes, migraine, chronic pain, obesity and body composition). I will discuss the resources available to the community in UKB and example studies of the utility of 500,000 GWAS subjects for GWAS and polygenic risk scoring applications of these phenotypes.
