PSY88 - Systematic Review of Diagnosis and Treatment of Obesity and Bing- Eating Syndrome

Abstract

To determine the diagnostic criteria and treatment of obesity and binge-eating syndrome considered for the treatment of these patients.To determine the diagnostic criteria and treatment of obesity and binge-eating syndrome considered for the treatment of these patients. A thorough systematic review was carried out according to the recommendations of the collaboration. Cochrane, taking into account the inclusion criteria: clinical guidelines and consensus in English or Spanish, publications that include full text versions excluding editorial letters and abstracts of publications were included. An exhaustive search of the information was carried out, including the databases: Medline / Pubmed, Cochrane Library (CENTRAL), and manual search updated to December 12, 2017. The filter of the studies was carried out by two expert researchers in the subject selecting those with information relevant to the objective of the review and that had all the inclusion criteria defined. 109 publications were identified, of which 27 were excluded because they were repeated, 19 because they did not contain the desired topic and 8 because of a different language. It was read in the full text 49, excluding 39 for different purpose. Therefore, 10 of them published the inclusion criteria, all diagnostic and treatment criteria for obesity associated with inclusion criteria. According to the evidence collected, the criteria for diagnosis and treatment of obesity and binge-eating syndrome are consistent with that indicated in the latest edition of the criteria of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders in its DSM-V edition. On the other hand, the publications conclude that the approach of the patient suffering BED must be multidisciplinary, including the following approaches: behavioral, psychological, nutritional, and pharmacological. Without all these being necessary in the care of each patient.
