Abstract

AbstractThe Young Researcher Award of physica status solidi and Wiley‐VCH was bestowed for the second time at the Latin American Symposium on Solid State Physics (SLAFES 2004, http://www.ff.oc.uh.cu/slafes/), held from 6–9 December 2004 in Havana, Cuba. The award was presented by the Editor‐in‐Chief Martin Stutzmann and was divided among Aimé Pelaiz Barranco, Applied Physics Department, Physics Faculty, Havana University, Cuba for the paper “AC behavior in lanthanum modified PZT ferroelectric ceramics” and Clara Lilia Calderón Triana, Departamento de Física, Universidad Nacional de Colombia, Bogotá, Colombia for the paper “Study of electrical transport properties of ZnO thin films used as front contact of solar cells”.Moreover, the following three researchers were given Special Mentions:Valérie Halté, Louis Pasteur University and IPCMS‐GONLO, Strasbourg, France for the paper “Femtosecond dynamics of transmission of gold arrays of sub‐wavelength holes”Erick M. Larramendi Cancio, Faculty of Physics, University of Havana for the paper “Cd desorption induced by Zn exposure during atomic layer epitaxy of CdxZn1−xTe”Julio C. Rimada Herrera, Solar Cells Laboratory, Institute of Materials and Reagents (IMRE), University of Havana, Cubafor the paper “Quantum and conversion efficiency calculation of AlGaAs/GaAs multiple quantum well solar cells”.
