Abstract

This paper presents dynamic modelling and simulation of voltage source induction motor drives assisted by Pspice. From the qd dynamic model of the electrical and mechanical modes, Pspice equivalent circuits are designed and implemented for each harmonic voltage component. Closed form qd voltage equations are derived in case of a six-step inverter. The proposed Pspice net-list and schematics-structured approach allows easy adding or deleting of harmonic contribution to the drive motor dynamics. A variety of transient behavior cases such as motor starting, frequency and voltage perturbations are investigated. Salient results are presented and analyzed. The validity of the proposed simulation approach is assessed by a comparison with experimentally obtained results.
