Abstract
Psoriasis and risk of cutaneous melanoma: A retrospective, comparative, registry-based cohort study
Highlights
To the Editor: Patients with psoriasis have an increased overall cancer risk.[1]
The risk increase is robust for keratinocyte carcinomas, the link between psoriasis and cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) remains uncertain because results from different studies are heterogeneous.[2,3,4,5]
The control individuals were censored at whatever came first of death; migration; first date of psoriasis and/ or psoriatic arthritis; CMM or end of the study period. dSevere psoriasis was defined as any patient with filled prescription of methotrexate, acitretin, cyclosporine, tumor necrosis factor inhibitors, or interleukin pathway inhibitors, and/or patients who had been hospitalized and were discharged with psoriasis as the main discharge diagnosis in the time period from 2001 to 2016. ePsoriatic arthritis was defined as patients with any ICD-10 code of psoriatic arthritis in the time period from 2001 to 2016. fActinic keratosis was defined as any patient with an ICD-10 code of actinic keratosis in the time period from 2001 to 2016
