Abstract

The Case of Complicated Grief: Formerly Diagnosed as Psychotic Disorder Grief is a common phenomenon experienced by many people following the loss of a loved one. Although it is a normal process, a small subset of individuals never fully integrate the loss into their life and continue to experience severe disruption in daily life many years after the loss event, a phenomenon known as Complicated Grief. Understanding of the normative grief process and complicated grief as a disorder is crucial for clinicians. In this case report, a 32 years old woman who had suicidal ideations, pseudohallucinations, emotional withdrawal and psychomotor retardation following the loss of husband has been discussed in terms of diagnosis and treatment of complicated grief
