Abstract

The Technology Portal of the Protein Structure Initiative Structural Biology Knowledgebase (PSI SBKB; http://technology.sbkb.org/portal/) is a web resource providing methods and tools that can be used to relieve bottlenecks in the many areas of biochemistry and molecular biology research that are integral to protein structure determination. Several useful features are available on the web site, including multiple ways to search the database of over 450 technological advances, a link to videos of methods on YouTube, and access to the Facebook page, where scientists can get news, ask questions, and connect. Rotating articles offer an overview of cutting-edge methods in use by structural biologists (Featured Technology) and profile the research being performed at different PSI Centers. The PSI Tech Portal provides easy access to useful web servers and is a component of the SBKB (http://sbkb.org), which presents integrated genomic, structural, and functional information for all protein sequence targets selected by the PSI. Editorial content from Nature focuses on a featured system each month, complete with related research advances and technical highlights. The SBKB offers access to an array of resources for biologists, including a Functional Sleuth for searching protein structures of unknown function. An overview of the various features and user searches will highlight the information, tools, and avenues for scientific interaction available through the PSI Tech Portal. “Like” us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/techportal. The PSI SBKB Technology Portal is funded by the NIH/NIGMS (U01GM093324).
