Abstract

To the Editor.— The clinical picture of hypercalcemia associated with malignant neoplasms without bone metastases and correction of the hypercalcemia by antitumor therapy has been called pseudohyperparathyroidism. 1 Although bronchogenic carcinoma and hypernephroma head the list of malignant neoplasms producing this syndrome, a large variety of tumors from other organs have been reported, including 14 gynecologic malignant neoplasms. 2-4 To our knowledge, this is the first report describing the syndrome in association with a stromal cell sarcoma of the uterus. Report of a Case.— A 62-year-old Negro woman was admitted to DCGH with painless swelling of the left lower extremity of two weeks' duration. She had also noted a recent increase in abdominal girth, a weight loss of 6.8 kg, and vaginal bleeding. There was no history of peptic ulcer, renal stones, mental disorders, bone pain, or drug or alkali ingestion. Positive findings on physical examination were a slightly enlarged
