Abstract
A case of pseudohypoparathyroidism complicated with an hypocalcemic myocardiopathy and a convulsive syndrome is presented. At the time of diagnosis, the most outstanding characteristics of this patient were: distinct phenotypic features; radiologic cardiomegaly; electrocardiographic alterations that suggested hypocalcemia; generalized osteoporosis and soft tissue calcification on skeletal X-ray films; low plasma calcium (4.53 mg%) and high plasma phosphorus (7.7 mg%) concentrations. Following treatment with vitamin D3, calcium gluconate, aluminium hydroxide, acetildigitoxin, hydrochlorothiazide, and low phosphate diet, progressive improvement of plasma calcium and phosphate concentration and also normalization of the cardiac silohuette and of the electro car diographic tracing were observed.
