Abstract

1. 1. The aminoacylation of tRNA in vitro by Bacillus subtilis enzymes was inhibited by high concentrations of tRNA. 2. 2. An inhibitor fraction was separated from partially purified B. subtilis tRNA fractions. Some physical and chemical properties of this fraction are reported. 3. 3. An examination of the action of this inhibitor fraction revealed that part of its inhibitory action was actually due to the prevention of trichloroacetic acid precipitation of the aminoacyl-tRNA during aminoacylation assays. Ethanol precipitation of aminoacyl-tRNA was not inhibited by this fraction.
