Abstract

The Unayzah Formation has been an exploration target in Saudi Arabia for more than a decade, with oil and gas production from the unit now well established. However, exploration in the Unayzah in central Saudi Arabia remains technically challenging. This is due in large part to its complex interplay of continental clastic depositional environments that include braided stream, wadi fill, playa-lake, interfluve, alluvial fan, and eolian dune systems.
