Abstract
We construct an algebraic extension F of Q which is pseudo finite and has the “Laurent property”. In addition, F has an extension F * which is a non-principal ultraproduct of distinct finite fields (so F * is pseudo finite), F * has the Laurent property, and F is the algebraic part of F * .
