Abstract

A 55 years old gentleman presented with new onset chest discomfort for last 2 weeks. His past history was not significant for cardiac illness. Physical examination was normal. The resting 12 Lead electrocardiogram and chest X-ray were within normal limits. Trans thoracic echocardiography (TTE) showed an abnormal membrane like structure in right atrium. This membrane like structure was originating from lateral wall of right atrium just above the ostium of inferior vena cava and extending to middle of interatrial septum hence simulating cor triatriatum dexter. On further evaluation with transesophageal echocardiography (TEE), right atrium was absolutely normal without any evidence of giant eustachian valve or membrane like structure. Hence, this membrane like structure in right atrium was found to be an echocardiographic artifact.
