Abstract

AbstractThe homily on the resurrection of Lazarus, edited as Pseudo-Chrysostom by Migne, and Pseudo-Hippolytus by Achelis, is one among many important homiletic witnesses to this event as interpreted by the Patristic Fathers. In this article an analysis is provided of the homily as a whole, focussing on both its literary style and theological importance, seen within the broader framework of this homiletic tradition regarding this miracle in the life of Jesus.1
