Abstract

This paper offers a robust but simple scoring method (PSCORE) to measure the quality and quantity of research output by faculty members. This method will enable administrators and tenure and promotion committees to set benchmark qualitative and quantitative research goals and measure progress through time. Using a merit process list obtained from a research university with high research activity as defined by The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, we will illustrate the method by computing and ranking published business faculty at the University of Otago in New Zealand.
