Abstract

Objective: Obesity is a common occurrence in an urbanized societal living. It is an altered metabolic status with multiple complications. This is a prospective study to know the linkages with nonhdl cholesterol and dysglycemia, obesity and hypertension. Design and Method: Patients attending the executive health check up at Apollo Hospital Noida during Jan – Feb 2016 are taken up for the study. Persons with known diabetes hypertension and chronic medical diseases are excluded from the study. ADA, NCEP ATP III and JNC- VIII criteria are used for classification of the study. Means and Percentages are taken for statistical analysis. Results: 212 persons with mean age of (43 +/- 11.85) are taken up for the study out which males N = 153 with mean age of (42.9 +/- 12.5) with females N = 59 and with mean age of (45 +/- 9.77). The relevant data has been put in a tabular format. Conclusions: The males outnumber the females in the executive health check up implying greater health awareness in males. The persons with raised non HDL Cholesterol are obese and have more incidence of systolic blood pressure as comparted to impaired glucose tolerance (IGT). IGT is more prevalent than diabetic manifestation. Raised non HDL cholesterol spikes systolic BP followed by impaired glucose tolerance which are preventable in practice.
