Abstract

The aim of the paper is to review the systems of quality of life indicators that are used to quantify the categories of quality of life, and to discuss those most frequently used in international and national statistics. The review is based on Polish and foreign literature, as well as on the resources of the websites of international and domestic institutions that publish databases and reports relating to the measurement of social phenomena and processes. The article demonstrates the growing importance of social indicators systems for describing the quality of life and their evolution – expanding the thematic and spatial scope, as well as increasing the share of subjective indicators.
