Abstract
The contribution deals with the canonical aspects of the Jan Hus' trial (or more likely of the trials). It is based on a short description of trial procedures on the level of the Archdiocese of Prague up until 1410, on the level of the Papal court from 1410 to 1414 and on the Council of Constance in 1414 and 1415. It targets frequent violations of the canonical procedural norms committed by all concerned parties with the only exception being the council of Constance. It is directed at the principal questions connected with the procedural norms as well as with the personage of Jan Hus and his adversaries, to what degree they can be inspirational for the present-day situation.

Summary
Hus byl od nástupu Zbyňka Zajíce z Házmburka na arcibiskupský stolec pražský v r. 1403 zpočátku arcibiskupovým spojencem v reformním úsilí. 8. 1408 však byly na Husa poprvé podány u arcibiskupa žaloby pražských farářů na pohoršlivá a nenávistná kázání proti kléru; Hus žaloby popřel a arcibiskup je dále neřešil. Narážely na jasný odpor arcibiskupa věrného římské obedienci a také na univerzitě se většina mistrů nečeských národů klonila k římské obedienci, zatímco v českém národě stále rozhodněji vystupoval Jan Hus v prospěch cesty koncilu. Arcibiskup na přelomu let 1408 a 1409 zasáhl proti mistrům podporujícím cestu koncilu, jako jediný byl tu jmenovitě uveden Hus.[3] Situaci na univerzitě král Václav IV. Arcibiskup byl na prosinec 1409 předvolán k papežskému dvoru k vyšetření stížnosti studentů, ale jeho vyslanci dosáhli nejen zproštění arcibiskupa z povinnosti dostavit se, ale dokonce jeho pověření k vyřešení sporné kauzy v Praze.
