Abstract

The article discusses four types of pruritus in pregnancy: intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy (ICP), polymorphic eruption of pregnancy (PEP) (also known as pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy (PUPPP), atopic eruption of pregnancy (AEP) and pemphigoid gestationis (PG). The midwife will differentiate between the types, knowing to refer ICP and PG to the multidisciplinary team, while enabling women with self-management for PEP and AEP.
