Abstract
A REVIEW of the voluminous literature on the subject of anal pruritus reveals that nearly as many theories regarding the etiology of this condition have been advanced and methods of treatment advocated as there have been authors. Several conclusions might be taken from this. First, the final answer has not been written, and there may be several etiologic factors involved in many of the patients with this condition.
