Abstract
This article investigates the impact of interactive activities proposed in the classroom on the biology learning of integrated high school students at the IFMT Várzea Grande campus. The methodology involved direct and indirect participant observation, with the aim of describing the behavior, feeding methods, reproduction and interactions of animals observed in the backyard of these students' homes. The results indicated an increase in engagement and understanding of the concepts studied in the classroom and that the backyard environment proved to be its own small ecosystem, adapted to the conditions and species that live there.
