Abstract

Introduction : The immediate insertion of removable partial dentures can avoid the interruption of a normal lifestyle and protect the surgical area . Objective: This study aimed at providing immediate removable partial denture ( RPD) to a patient who would undergo dental extractions in order to avoid social and psychological disorders by the absence of the extracted elements , since they were in an aesthetics region the mouth . Material and methods: Informed Consent Statement and clinical record . Case report: A 42 year-old male , residing in Lins , sought the Dentistry School of Lins ( FOL) in order to solve a problem caused by the presence of an old adhesive denture that had no functional and aesthetic conditions . But this same prosthesis compromised his clamping teeth , needing to be removed along with the supporting teeth . However , a preventive treatment was necessary , since the patient had severe periodontal problems . We performed a study model in which the teeth that would be extracted before and after the RPD placement were removed . The model’s production demanded the use of elastomer molding , a study model made of plaster stone, and surgical equipment for teeth extraction , with the immediate placement of a removable prosthesis over the surgical area . The result was excellent and the main goal was achieved : the patient’s welfare and his aesthetic and functional recovery . Conclusion : An adjustment in the treatment plan , adapting it to the patient’s socioeconomic conditions , can provide not only aesthetic and functional recovery, but also the patient’s overall health.
