Abstract

Modelling high frequency overvoltages in a transformer requires a computation of R, L parameters which takes into account eddy current losses in the conductors (proximity effect). The method consists in substituting a nonconductive hysteretic material described with a complex permeability to the conductors material. Its expression is derived from the homogenisation of an analytical 1D magnetic field calculation which is afterwards implemented in a 2D finite clement electromagnetic field computation software.
