Abstract
Migration is a known complication of biliary s tent placement. Stents may migrate proximally or distally. Distal migrat ion may lead to bowel obstruction. Proximal migrat ion may lead to impact ion and subsequent inability to remove the stent. This may predispose to recurrent biliary obstruction, choledocholithiasis, and cholangitis. The following case illustrates the utili ty of the combined percutaneous/endoscopic approach to successfully remove a biliary s tent after proximal migration.
