Providing care in temporary volunteer dental clinics and programs

Abstract

Q state and many others hold oneor twoday volunteer dental programs. Many of these programs are called “Mission of Mercy.” The American Dental Association also sponsors “Give Kids A Smile Day.” These events often amount to temporary dental clinics. After reading recently about possible hepatitis B virus transmission at one of these clinics, I wonder what the ethical implications of these events and clinics might be.
